JIM FLYNT MEMORIAL
JINGLE
BELL
WALK TO BENEFIT THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2011 9:00 A.M.,
BEACON’S REACH MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION
“Over the river and through the woods”…well not exactly…more like “past the marina, live oaks and beautiful homes through Beacon’s Reach we go”. On November 26, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, St Francis by the Sea held the Second Annual Jingle Bell Walk, renamed to the Jim Flynt Memorial Jingle Bell Walk. This walk benefits the Boys and Girls Clubs of Coastal Carolina. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day to take a stroll with friends; the skies were blue, the air was mild - it was perfect! We had approximately 37 walkers which included three children on scooters, one child walking and three dogs. Representatives of the Boys and Girls Clubs participated as did long-time friends of Jim Flynt. Jim would be so happy. So far we have collected $1,345, not counting any donations that may have been turned in directly to St Francis after the event. The Boys and Girls Clubs thank you so much for your generosity.

Artists for December
Come enjoy our Parish Family Art
Show. Many kinds of arts and crafts are displayed for our
enjoyment.
OUTREACH
On December 10,
St Francis cooked, and the servers and cleanup crew helped out at Hope
Mission’s Soup Kitchen. The cooks showed up early in the morning to
prepare meatloaf, mashed potatoes (minus the lumps), green beans,
gravy, salad and rolls. The servers came around 10:45 and started
serving guests at 11 a.m. The meal was a great hit with diners.
Plenty of home-made desserts were donated and enjoyed by all. The
cleanup crew came at 12:30 and mopped, scrubbed tables, floors,
dishes and counters until the place was spic and span. Thanks to all
who volunteered/donated for another successful meal for Hope Mission
patrons. If you missed it this year, we’re already scheduled on the
Hope Mission calendar for next December.

You may notice that our Angel Tree downstairs has turned into a
scarf-mitten-hat tree. We are collecting winter scarves, hats,
mittens and gloves for Carteret County school children and Boys and
Girls Club children who don’t have any. Please, knit something or
stop by the local dollar store and pick something up to help keep a
child warm this winter.
Our Angel Tree project was a huge
success. We adopted six families with children ranging in age from 3
to 14. We had our Wrap-A-Thon last Wednesday and had a great time
sorting and wrapping the gifts. Along with toys, clothes, games,
each family was given a box of food for Christmas dinner and baking
supplies as well as a ham. All items were delivered this past week
and the recipient families were overwhelmed with gratitude.
Ongoing Outreach
The Outreach Committee of St. Francis by the Sea
has designated Martha’s Mission Cupboard in Morehead City as one of
the worthy projects for parishioners of St. Francis to support for
2011. The Cupboard collects canned and boxed non-perishable foods
(also monetary donations to purchase food) to keep in the Cupboard
and distribute to local families who need a helping hand.
We have chosen to honor with our collections to
this worthwhile charity those parishioners of St. Francis who have
died this past year. Our collections have been VERY successful
thanks to the wonderful, generous support of St. Francis by the Sea
parishioners and friends. Please pick up a “bag” in the downstairs
fellowship hall for the new collection period.
“Do not neglect to do good and to
share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”
